The Soup-A-Stars of AMADEUS

On the 9th of November, Mohammed and Nazarii from Grade 8 spent their Saturday evening as Soup-A-Stars as they served food to people in need.

Giving back is an important part of AMADEUS Vienna, and kindness is one of our core values. Therefore, our students regularly engage in meaningful experiences through our service programmes. More specifically, the programme ‘Service as Action’ is a requirement for all students in Grades 6-10. Diploma Students are required to follow the CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programme.

As an example, we are collaborating with the Vinzirast CortiHaus in the 12th district. The CortiHaus provides food and emergency shelter for people in need 365 days a year. On the 9th of November, Mohammed and Nazarii spent their Saturday evening in the Vinzirast’s kitchen. With help and supervision from our Service as Action Coordinator, Mr Daniel Poetscher, the students peeled potatoes, served hot soup, beef stew and ratatouille, and cleaned the dishes. By dedicating a few hours of their time made a huge impact on many people’s lives. That night, Mohammed & Nazarii provided dinner for over 50 people they had never met before, and they will return to Vinzirast four more times this year.

They were excellent ambassadors of AMADEUS and we are extremely proud of both of them. Likewise, the Vinzirast staff was very impressed by their open-minded and caring approach. They are real ‘Soup-A-Stars’ and it was an incredibly valuable experience for them.
