Our After School Activities offer students the opportunity to pursue their interests beyond the classroom to promote a healthy balance of skill development.
For AV Primary students, we offer a variety of hands-on, play-oriented learning opportunities. Activities range from the reading, mindfulness, and chess clubs where you get to focus in quieter settings, to different active sports clubs where you get to burn a lot of energy after a day in school. For the creative minds, we offer drama and STEM, and for the communicators, we offer language clubs and a Student Leadership Club. There is something for every curious young mind. The selection of offerings may vary from year to year to cater to an array of interests.
You can find the schedule for the ASAs as well as the ASA sign-up form on the Parent Resource Page.
Are you a bookworm? Join the Book club where students will read and discuss exciting stories from our AV Library. At any age, being in a book club teaches kids valuable skills — reading for understanding, relating reading to personal experience, how to participate in a discussion by taking turns, and respecting the opinion of others. Activity led by Mr Miro.
Students will experience using a wide range of art materials and learn new techniques. From watercolors to pastels and mixed media, they will be inspired to develop their creativity, stimulate their mind, and put their own mark in masterpieces they take home. Activitiy led by Ms Costello.
Junior Ball Sports gives students the opportunity to get to know sports such as Basketball, Mini-Handball, Volleyball, Floorball, and so on. The students will be working on improving their skills, technique, and on understanding the rules and games. Activity led by Mr Mirkovic.
In the Drama Club, students will explore their imaginations through theatre and acting. Drama games are applied to increase creativity and confidence for both onstage, in the classroom, and in life. Students learn about acting techniques, character, plot, imagination, costumes, and more. The most beautiful thing about theatre is that it is only limited by our own imagination! Activity led by Mr Fisher.
Storytelling is the social and cultural activity of sharing stories, sometimes with improvisation, theatrics, or embellishment. Every culture has its own stories or narratives, which are shared as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation or instilling moral values. As an international school with kids from different backgrounds, Storytelling ASA will see our kids share their stories with each other. Activity led by Mr Future.
Here our kids have the chance to improvise which is a process of spontaneously creating movement. The development of movement material is facilitated through a variety of creative explorations including body mapping through levels, shape, and dynamics schema. Activity led by Mr Future.
Chess Club will offer the students a chance to improve their chess skills. Students will be learning all the basics and improving their skills in set plays and in-house competitions. We will focus on openings, defense, and casting, developing pieces, and finishing the game effectively. We aim to challenge other schools and gain experience in tournaments. Activity led by Mr Osborne.
Ni hao! Would you like to be able to speak the language that is spoken by most people worldwide? We are now offering students the opportunity to learn Chinese. Activity led by Ms Fang.
For fun football games join the Football ASA, held in the sports hall every Monday. It is suitable for all primary grades. Activity Led by Mr Mirkovic and Mr Haberl-Arkhurst.
STEM is the future. In STEM Club we will work with inquiry-based projects focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths. These are all areas of learning that our students need to be comfortable with to excel in the future. STEM makes creators, thinkers, problem solvers, doers, innovators, and inventors. Activity led by Mr Hill.
Would you like to rock the German language? In the AV German Club, you will get the chance to spend time with a German teacher to help support topics learned in class. Activity led by Ms Dallinger.
Welly Boot Club provides opportunities to learn through experience in the natural setting of our school campus. Through a wide range of activities from den making to nature walks, the children will make decisions and problem solve whilst gaining confidence, independence, creativity, practical skills, and knowledge of the world they live in. Activity Led by Ms Record.
After School Care is available to primary students between 15:00-17:00, Monday through to Thursday. Students in After School Care may join in with an ASA on that day.
