Ballroom Dancing (Students, Parents & Staff)
Social dancing, also known as ballroom dancing is a sport with regular training, competitions, championships, and social activity. It stems from the traditional social events of tea dances and evening balls in the late 19th and 20th centuries, and it is still an important part of European culture.
The main ballroom social dances are the Standard ( English Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slowfox, Quickstep) and Latin (Cha-Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble, Jive)
The aim of this course is to teach students the basic steps of the most popular social dances in order for them to feel at home on any dance floor. Students attending this course can expect to learn a selection of standard and Latin dances such as Slow waltz, Quickstep, Cha-cha-cha and Jive. They will gain knowledge and confidence to take part in social dance events and enjoy the incredible feeling of being part of a dancing crowd at an evening ball or a dance party.
Ballroom dancing contributes to muscle toning by forcing the dancers to resist their partners’ body strength. It is a great low-impact activity that can promote a fit lifestyle while also decreasing the chances of an exercise-related injury.
Classes are conducted by the Austrian champion in Ballroom Dance who is also a certified trainer by the Austrian Dance Sports Federation.
