The Goh Family and AMADEUS International School Vienna receive the Flame of Peace Award

“Peace and friendship with all mankind is our wisest policy.” – Thomas Jefferson

Last Wednesday was a momentous occasion in AMADEUS history. Founders Dr. Wilson and Karen Goh received the Flame of Peace award for their contribution to world peace through their work in music and the arts, while AMADEUS International School Vienna received the award for its work towards educating international-minded, compassionate individuals. This honor was celebrated during a ceremony on the AV campus with members of the AMADEUS community.

The Flame of Peace is granted to individuals and organizations by the Association for the Promotion of Peace, which was founded in 2007 by Herta Margarete Habsburg-Lothringen. The goal of the organization is to promote and reward peace by creating a space for dialogue about conflict management and peace-creating ideas.

The Goh Family Collection is a philanthropic foundation which supports aspiring young musicians through instrument grants. The collection boasts of over 20 unique string instruments from some of the most important makers in history. Through the generosity of the Goh family, the instruments are available for loan to promising young musicians or even established musicians for the purpose of furthering their careers, while establishing that the beneficiaries of such instruments must always look out for opportunities to do their part for the betterment of society through their musical performances.

The vision and hope of the Goh family and AMADEUS is to create a more peaceful world through education, music and the arts. To commemorate the honor of being recipients of the Flame of Peace, the Habsburg-Lothringens, the Goh family, and the AMADEUS community came together to plant a rose bush in the newly established Garden of Peace on the AMADEUS campus. It is our hope that peace will bloom in the lives of all who pass through AMADEUS.
