Boarding Life: Beyond the Classroom at AMADEUS

At AMADEUS International School Vienna, we believe that Boarding is more than just a place to live; it is a community where students can grow and nurture their education, dreams and aspirations. The AMADEUS’ Boarding philosophy centres around the UNESCO Happy Schools that foster a balanced and supportive environment for all students. We are proud to be the only International school in Austria with a Boarding House.

INCLUSION IN A DIVERSE COMMUNITY

One of the core elements of AMADEUS Boarding is the emphasis on building a strong and inclusive community. Students from different backgrounds and countries come together, making deep connections and lasting friendships. By living and studying together, students feel a strong sense of belonging and respect for each other. For many students and alumni, AMADEUS Boarding feels like a second home.

PASTORAL CARE

This has been made possible by the hard work and dedication of the House Parents and boarding staff. They offer students the support and motivation they need to set and achieve their goals.

AMADEUS’ boarders are provided with structured daily routines that balance academic commitments with leisure activities and personal time. This schedule helps students develop good study habits while allowing them to relax, hang out with friends, practice or engage in their preferred recreational activities. In addition, living on campus gives students easy access to resources such as libraries, study spaces, practice rooms and more.

ACADEMIC SUPPORT

Academic support is an essential part of the student experience. To help students excel, the school offers dedicated Saturday Library Sessions, giving boarders additional time and guidance to focus on their studies outside of regular class hours. In addition, the “Kaffee und Kuchen” sessions provide a unique opportunity for students to unwind, promoting a healthy balance between academic effort and social well-being. Effort grades are carefully reviewed, and if necessary, follow-up actions are taken to support students’ progress. Boarding Reports are also integrated into official school reports, providing a comprehensive view of each student’s development.

AMADEUS NUTRITION

Student well-being is central to AMADEUS. Our in-house chefs prepare nutritious meals with a diverse range of options such as meat, vegetarian, vegan, soups, fresh salads, and seasonal fruits, reflecting our international community.

STATE-OF-THE-ART FACILITIES

AMADEUS Boarding offers modern, well-equipped rooms that promote comfort, study, and relaxation. The building is split into two parts on each floor: one for girls and one for boys. There are also student kitchens in each of the six sections. On the third floor, there is a community space designed for students to come together for socialising, studying, and playing. The room has cosy couches, chairs, bookshelves, a pool table and more. The school’s location combines a peaceful environment with easy access to Vienna’s vibrant cultural scene.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP – BOARDING PREFECTS

As we strive to cultivate a nurturing environment, having student body representatives is crucial for connecting students and the boarding staff. Each academic year, a selection of Prefects is held to seek the most dedicated, enthusiastic, and talented individuals to lead our activities and projects. As part of the student leadership team, the prefects will mentor younger boarders, organise engaging initiatives, and support their peers. Their efforts ensure that the Boarding House remains a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment.

AMADEUS Vienna is extremely proud of the supportive and caring environment we have developed. Our Boarding House is a place where students can be happy, safe, and become their best selves. By focusing on the overall well-being of each student, AMADEUS Vienna creates a positive, nurturing space that truly sets it apart.
